Greetings! After reading this article (I don’t know how I came across it lol), a reasonable question arose in my head: why do the United States traditionally accuse of cyber attacks only those countries that do not agree with the White House agenda (Iran, China, Russia and North Korea?) I mean, don't you think that America itself carries out false flag operations, setting the world community against the above-mentioned states? All in all America has a whole Cyber Command, which like the rest of the army must also justify its existence. There’s no doubt the activities of this Cyber Command are not limited to just defensive operations. Best defense is a good offense after all. I can’t say much about Iran, China or the D.P.R.K. due to the lack of communication with the citizens of these countries, however, being familiar with the Russians, I can say that they are pretty funny and open-minded, despite their closed nature. And almost no one believes in conspiracy theories among them. Same can't be said for the United States. In the past year conspiracy theories have been taking center stage in American mainstream politics. At the same time, no convincing evidence was attached to any conspiracy theory, as well as to any large-scale cyber-incident. First, at the epoch of the Cold War American government scared its citizens by «hand of Moscow» and Russian mafia afterwards. With the fall of the “Iron Curtains”, everyone realized that the Russians, for the most part, are regular people who have common problems. Perhaps, with the rise of alternative media and development of information technologies as a whole, as well as realizing that the population is progressively losing confidence in national propaganda, the U.S. leadership has shifted to the area where it would be very difficult for an ordinary person to get to the truth – cyberspace. In fact, most cyber attacks do not require high skills or significant financial outlays, especially given the recent massive leak of NSA’s cyber tools (most likely NSA workers themselves dumped these tools). In my opinion, America and its allies themselves create conditions for accusation, presenting indirect evidence that can be interpreted as it wanted. Clearly, I admit that my (conspiracy) theory may be wrong or silly. However, I'm glad to read every single comment, especially if it is well-argued! Have a nice day everyone!
Multiple theaters should be availiable in WW3. A canon storyline of a Russian Victory would be interesting instead of the usual blue team winning. The year is 2026 and the war ends in 2030. But, the outcome should be shocking as A2/AD advances has caught NATO with their pants down. This time the Red side wins. I've written a well scenario. If you may? WW3 2026-2030 Here are a few ideas. Cyberattacks target NATO headquarters to destroy Tactical Situational Awareness Software Programs used in the war-room. https://www.fd-software.com/tips-video.asp Yes the technology is real. They can track drones and missiles, etc in live time with a 1000 meters accuracy from another article I read. Computers are unable to boot up. Zero-day exploits are executed causing sporadic shutdowns and frustrating lag. The Russian cyberattack provokes NATO to counter-attacking. Tit for tat cyberexchange was short. The 2nd phase leads to mass disruption attacks on NATO's power grid and internet service providers. Entire nations like France, Germany and the UK are in an internet blackout. Some places are reporting power outages. The third phase is space warfare. Ohh, you're gonna love this one. This is where things escalate terrifyingly faasst. GPS satellites are malfunctioning. The news bulletin interrupts American television channels, and the cell phone emergency system is activated. Reminiscent memories of 9/11 kicks in the USA. Bank accounts disappear in mass, ATMs are offline and cell phone services are being disrupted somehow by cyber-attacks. Mass chaos and looting spread gradually in American cities. The stock markets are wiped due to the panic. A space exchange frightens the public after news reports of suspicious satellites are apparently maneuvering in threatening ways. Somehow shockingly, even American military satellites are suffering mass disruption and disabling. 1 month later after the Russian cyberattacks diplomacy fails. Invasion of the Baltics begins. Conscription is instated in NATO. With the Baltics conquered by the Russians manage to sneak in terrorist agents in the United States to release genetically engineered smallpox. While, the same happens in the European theater where military bases are reporting smallpox outbreaks. A war of attrition is demoralizing for NATO. The Russians are dragging out the conflict while the defenses of Moscow are re-enforced 50,000 troops, air-defense systems, SAM systems, S-500 air-defense systems. Russian drones with extended range are used for kamikaze missions loaded with explosives and biological weapons to attack military NATO bases. Hours later, sea cables are being cut in Asian Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. Japan experiences a "cyber 9/11". Allies not only in Europe but as well in the Pacific region. China invades Taiwan, and the 2nd Korean War begins. Iran is attacked by Israel. Iran counter-attacks with a missile barrage. Israel is incapable to hold out for long so she calls out for her American friend. Congress declares war on Iran and North Korea. While diplomacy is given a 2nd try with Russia. China also participates in the allied force against North Korea, but they are doing it for their self-interest. North Korea collapses after bloody war for 6 months. Morale collapses in the United States after 2 bloody years of land war against Russia. The American public is unhappy with incessant coffins coming home. Tensions escalate after Chinese demand buffer state. A clash happens between the US and China. War breaks out in the Pacific Theater. Using older carriers into service was possible but morale and public support was waning rapidly by year 3 of WW3. It would have been hard since they were older museum pieces from the Cold War and WW2. Even makeshift carriers would have been a problem. The regional nuclear exchanges of India and Pakistan. And North Korea vs Japan+USA really changed the hearts and minds of the world's nations and the Global Armistice of 2030 lead to the end of WW3 to prevent anymore bloodshed, but it only came at the price of NATO's technical defeat. For one time I hope they do something shocking in this game. But realistically America and its allies may lose the next World War. May be strange, but it doesn't have to be. Artificial Intelligence and cyber-warfare was the Manhattan Projects of WW3. Its what helped the Red Side in winning. This is an interesting read. China vs USA scenario If we can incorporate a canon story. Perhaps even a comic book of a Russian Victory it would be better than tried and old blue side winning.
