damaged affecting player movement

Recommended Posts

alot of games always were weird how you can have a few HP left and still be able to run around and kill enemies just as easy as if you were at full health. what if your wounded, for example 1/3 health, you should be pretty slow moving around and you may not be able to aim correctly, maybe ADS would be blurry. maybe alot of sway when ADS. maybe a recoil multiplier. this might inspire teamwork of healing injured teammates so they can keep going in battle, less lone wolfing. might also prevent people from having such heavy loadouts when they know if they take damage they will be slow as a slug

Out of the survival games genre, these types of game mechanics doesn't work well. especially in a competitive game like this.

Yeah these mechanics are rarely fun, just frustrating. If a friendly isn't willing to drop meds for someone on low health now then they're not going to drop meds if you make being low on health suck more.

I'm gonna have to go with a no on this one. Outside of the survival genre, all this mechanic does is kick the player while they're down. I played a mod for Doom 2 a long time ago that was meant to make the game more like a realistic shooter, and one of the mechanics involved your aim becoming shaky and your movement slow and jittery while on low health. Realistic? Sure. Annoying as hell? Yes. You were basically hosed when your health dropped below 50 because you couldn't aim properly and couldn't run fast enough to retreat.
