why do you say one thing but then do another? here is just one of many examples. so i guess this wont be on 6.0 ? I told all of my buddies that this update was going to be the one to fix the game please don't let me down yet again farm 51

What next?

More optimization changes are coming, we’re changing up the animation system to a brand new one and rewriting the customization menu from scratch. We’re also updating our base engine to newer Unreal Engine 4 version.

UE4 4.21 Game Engine Update
We’re updating the underlying technology soon as well. While we have made some changes to Unreal Engine 4 to suit our needs, some parts of it didn’t change much and we can still update them easily. We’ve decided to switch from 4.19.2 that we’re using now to 4.21. This should improve performance a bit and let us use some of the new tools provided in newer versions of the engine.

Updating UE and rewriting animation system are two different things, what won't be in 0.6? I don't understand...

if they are doing ue upgrade in .6  thats big. idk or think they are doing it yet.

they said they commited or were doing animation redo since .3. shoukd take a while but a can see animations being added after or in a later .6 verson

In other words: In Report #7 the same was said, as in report #4, which is why he is being upset and sarcastic. "So i guess it won't be in 0.6?" meant as "So since you never do what you say..." (Not my opinion).

that's exactly what I'm talking about. Why is every question about how farm 51 handles the information they give out considered a whine or complaint? What ever happened to accountability?

I think we can all agree that the information flow lately has been really jacked up. The weekly reports are nice but I'd honestly prefer for a week to be skipped because there's no news then to waste my time reading a report that's been rephrased from earlier in the month.
If I saw someone at my job putting out work like that I'd start to think they're running in circles or trying to cover up a lack of progress.

I've come to expect F51 to tell us one thing and to then do another. I suppose that's a part of the Early Access roller coaster?

I look at the PTE and some of the stuff with recon and I KNOW F51 is working hard and making changes/improvements but the information delivery still feels like it's lacking to me.


Part of me wonders if the player base is so low that people are just speculating on why that is, even after updates and fixes, and everyone wants to put their theory out and into the world.
Despite there being a decent amount of whining and QQ, once you sort through the ones that are beating the same dead horse and the one's that are completely emotional, there's some really good points being brought up lately

Accountability is one of them

Accountability is one of them

We've decided to focus mainly on Weekly Reports because the previous method of delivery - individual posts and communication via forums, Steam and in game - resulted in a lot of chaos when one developer would say one thing and a different one something completely different, simply because someone wouldn't be up to speed on the latest decisions/developements (which can happen rapidly). In the end there was not a single main method of communication and we decided to fix those with the Weekly Reports. Some people were even wondering if anything was happening at all because unless you took your time to read our forums, Steam, Discord etc. you wouldn't have any clue what was going on with the game.

And believe me, reading comments like "is anyone still working on this?" while we continue to work our arses off (there was no change in production tempo since the EA release - if anything there's even more work to do now than was before) is pretty disheartening.

So we're putting those out to make sure everyone knows what's going on behind closed doors. Obviously there's some stuff we can't talk about yet so it may sometimes sound like the updates are a bit rephrasing themselves but nothing there is written to hide a lack of progress or anything like that. And lastly - They're written by different members of the team (ones responsible for each update's topic) so we don't have a single person chugging those out 24/7, if that's what you're thinking.

 

As for the OP: If I understand correctly (I didn't get enough sleep lately so forgive me if I'm wrong), you're wondering why we wrote the same thing twice? That's because the first update mentioned we were do change our engine in the future, and the later one said we are doing that now (which is the future from the POV of the first post). Unless I'm misunderstanding something? Sorry if I am.

I think if you guys are going to do a free weekend, it has to come after 0.6. Although the content updates have been great, particularly warzone update, the 2 new maps are incredibly un-optimized, the current performance on them is similar to the base maps during patches 0.2 and 0.3. So after the maps are optimized, and the animations are smoother, perhaps in 0.7, a free weekend during that time would be a good idea. 

 

I didn't even know the 2 maps were added to PTE until a community member made a post, weekly reports are nice, but they need to give better information, like go install the new update on PTE to test out our new maps. All I read was, the giga patch and its coming soon, which doesn't say much...

I think Patch notes on the forum, discord, steam, twitter and I guess facebook is enough... Weekly reports have nothing to do with PTE announcements, cuz they're not planned as live updates.

I don't think there's any free weekend planned for the nearest future. We want to do them, yes, but the game has to be in a much better polish state before that. I don't want to give any dates but I think we're still a patch or two (maybe more) away from that.

So yes, free weekends are coming, but only once the game is in a polished enough state for that.

So the only way of knowing when to test out new stuff is through social media? I checked steam and it didn't say I can try out the new maps on that day, I checked out the forums and it also didn't specify that. I figured it out through a community post.

That sounds more accurate, even the new maps need more optimization on their own, so yeah it would at least take until patch 0.8 maybe 0.9 and I am hopinh by that time the game will be much smoother gameplay wise and visually,  and well balance.

We'll be focusing on balance once most of the core features are in place. Probably around summer (estimate, don't quote me on that). Before that we'll probably still be doing the wide-range iterations like the BTK/TTK tweaks. Once that is done we'll focus more on fine-tuning a system that works to be as balanced as possible.

The information about patch notes always go first on the Forum, then on the Steam and lastly on the Discord, so its the place where you should check all the news regarding the patch notes, I don't know where is the problem, you want us to send you an SMS? ?

Oh, that is weird, it seems the last one I saw was 0.6.2, the one that says there is only bug fixes. I somehow did not get notified about 0.6.1. Nevermind, I guess it was a problem on my end.

Well, those patches (0.6.0/0.6.2) are still on the PTE (Player Test Environment) servers, not the LIVE servers. So their day to day patching would not get wide-mention on Steam, or social media.

 

I believe this gagapatch is good faith, that this game is moving forward and finding ground. In the end, it does not matter what particular patch makes WAR3 playable/sustainable... those patches we are talking about are still off in the future.  

Matter of fact, not until 0.8.0 would I start openly promoting WAR3. There are too many people who would just complain, instead of understand and help develop & playtest. There needs to be a few more maps beyond the gigpatch, and a much more broader spectrum of squad play and strategic scope, before this game gets addictive, or a viable hook for anyone crossing paths with this game.

Yeah, 0.6.3 is really picking up the game, Polyarny in my opinion is an excellent map. It's brought back the fun and excitement that I felt when first playing during the launch of ww3. 0.6 is the Giga patch or Warzone patch, 0.7 will be animation rework, performance optimization and changing to Unreal Engine 4.21, and 0.8 will hopefully be stable enough to be promoted by the Devs and the community. 

 

While I got the attention of the devs, when 9 maps were promised, where those 9 individual maps, or 5 large maps and 4 of their TDM variants.
